Where does this data come from?
Historical values are served by Open-Meteo from the ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis - a global gridded dataset that blends observations from weather stations, buoys, ships and satellites into a consistent picture of the atmosphere, hour by hour, back to 1940.
Because ERA5 is a model-based reconstruction rather than a single station reading, values are representative of the nearest grid cell (~30 km) to the place you choose, and may differ slightly from what a thermometer at the exact spot recorded. Data for the most recent few days may not yet be available.
